Barcode Deco! was born from a need I felt to break out of the fixed-width grid typefaces I had been designing at the time. For almost a year I had obsessed over strictly modular fonts, but when I started drawing Barcode Deco! in December 2015, I sought to soften those corners and relax my self-imposed rulebook. The result is a reflection of my shifting goals as well as my continued passion for straight edges.
